Blog EntryHow To Set Up Private Conversation BlogsMar 3, '08 2:45 AM
by Psychotic for everyone
Step 1

To begin, you will need to set up an individual blog for each contact that you would like to have "One" on "One" Private Conversations with
on your page.  I named each blog with the "Contacts Name" with [Private Conversations] in the title.  This way when a comment is made to the blog, it will show up on your message board and you will know who it's from.

Note:  Before you begin creating your individual blogs, you will need to see what the date is of your very first blog entry.

Why? Because you will want to "set a date" prior to your first blog entry to push the conversation blogs to the back pages so they will not interfere with your current blogs.

After you have created your first blog with the contacts name and set the date.  Select "Individuals" and under "Your Contacts" select your contacts name in the list.

Uncheck the boxes [Allow Replies] and [Send to Multiply Inbox] Save As Draft.

Continue to create each contacts blog and Save As Draft.
Don't forget to set the date that you have chosen.

Example of Blog:

Photobucket

Step 2

Setting up the table code to be put in your "Welcome Box"

Below you will find the table code that you will need to copy and paste into a WordPad or NotePad so you can enter each contacts blog URL and Name into the code.

<table border="5" cellpadding="10" cellspacing="10">
<center><table border="3" bordercolor="#000000" style "background-color="#ffffff" width="460" cellpadding="0" celspacing="0">
<td>
<center><table border="3" bordercolor="#000000" style "background-color="#ffffff" width="460" cellpadding="0" celspacing="0">
<center><th><font color="#000000"><font size="5">TITLE OF TABLE</th></font></center>
<tr>
<table border="5" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="3">

Example of Table:

Note:  Table border is black (#000000), table background
is  white (#ffffff) and font color is black (#000000) in this table code.  The hex color #'s can  be changed to your desired color  preference.

To add more rows to the table:  Just copy and paste this portion of the code and insert it above the last <tr> in the above code.  Repeat for additional rows.

</tr>
<td width="460">

<td width="460">
<center><a href="URL OF CONTACTS BLOG"target="_blank"><font color="#000000"><font size="3">CONTACTS NAME</a></font>
</center></td>
<td width="460">
<center><a href="URL OF CONTACTS BLOG"target="_blank"><font color="#000000"><font size="3">CONTACTS NAME</a></font>
</center></td>
<td width="460">
<center><a href="URL OF CONTACTS BLOG"target="_blank"><font color="#000000"><font size="3">CONTACTS NAME</a></font>
</center></td>
<td width="460">
<center><a href="URL OF CONTACTS BLOG"target="_blank"><font color="#000000"><font size="3">CONTACTS NAME</a></font>
</center></td>
<tr>
<center><table border="3" bordercolor="#000000" style "background-color="#ffffff" width="460" cellpadding="0" celspacing="0">
<center><th><font color="#000000"><font size="3">Click On Your Name For Individual Private Discussions </th></font></center>
</table>

Step 3

Now that you have the code copied to a WordPad or NotePad and have changed the border, background and font colors to your desired colors.  It is now time to retrieve the URL's of each contacts blog to insert into the code.  Open each contacts blog and copy and paste the URL into the area of the code that says
URL OF CONTACTS BLOG  then enter the name of your contact CONTACTS NAME.  Continue adding the URL's and your contacts names until you are finished filling in the code.

Step 4

Copy and Paste your finished code into a new blog. Remember to check the box by the "Edit HTML" before you paste the code.

Select "Individuals" and Uncheck the boxes [Allow Replies] and [Send to Multiply Inbox] Save As Draft.

It's now time for you to click on each contacts name in the table to check to see if the link is working to go to the correct blog that you have set up for each contact.

Note:  If you find an error and a link isn't working, go back and retrieve the URL again for the blog and enter it back into the correct area of the code that you have in the WordPad or NotePad and then paste the code again into the blog after removing the other.

Step 5

When you have finished getting the table code blog done, it's now time to copy and paste the code into your "Welcome Box".

Select "Individuals" and Uncheck the boxes [Allow Replies] and [Send to Multiply Inbox] Save & Publish this blog just for You.

Step 6

After you have set up the Table in your "Welcome Box" for your contacts to get access to their own personal blogs.
It's now time for you to open each contacts blog again and click on "Edit/Publish".

Select "Individuals" Your contacts name should already be listed in the Access: area and
check both the boxes to [Allow Replies] and to [Send to Multiply Inbox] Save & Publish this blog for your individual contact and you.

You now have a place set up on your page for One on One Personal
Conversations with your contacts.  No more worries about posting personal comments in guestbooks for prying eyes to read.

Note:  For a group discussion with your contacts, just set up an additional blog and add the names of your contacts that you want in this group discussion blog.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note to my personal contacts:  If you choose to set up this table code to have your own personal conversation blogs on your page.  Just copy the page URL to the blog that I have set up for you on my page.  By doing so, there won't be multiple blogs set up by each of my contacts because that would defeat the purpose of having one place to have one on one conversations.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Enjoy your new Personal Conversation blogs...

Another example of a table code being used by Missy is shown in this blog Groups Customization

Let's first take a look at the table code that will be used in this tutorial.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
<table align="center" background="Border Image URL" bgcolor="" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="10"> <tbody> <tr> <td bgcolor=""> <table align="center" bgcolor="" border="0" cellpadding="20" cellspacing="0"> <tbody> <tr> <td background="Background Image URL" bgcolor=""> </td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></tbody></table>
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To begin: Copy and paste this code into a WordPad or NotePad so you can insert your [image URL's] in the red area above in the code for the border & background.

For this demonstration: These are the two images being used.

                                                          [Border]                                  [Background]

This would be the [Direct Link] from Photobucket to insert for your "Image URL".

For Example:

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/12345/UserId/Tutorial/background.jpg

When you have selected both your border and background images, you are now ready to go to your homepage and "click"
on [Add To Blog] to start your entry.

The first thing that you need to do is "click on the box" to put a "check mark" in the [Edit HTML].

Now you are ready to paste the table code that you have prepared for your border & background.

Then "Click" [Preview & Spell Check] to preview the border and background that you have chosen.

This is what you will see, a tiny background with a border but don't panic, you have done nothing wrong. This is how it's suppose to look at this point.

If you don't like the border and background: "Click on the box" to put a "check mark" in the [Edit HTML]

Remove the "Image URL" and replace with another picture/color "Image URL" of your choosing.

Then "click" [Preview & Spell Check] to preview and see your changes.
When you have finished selecting your border and background.

Then "Click"  [Save as Draft]

In the next picture: "click" on Edit/Publish

In the next picture: "Click" in the center of the little background, then go to the icons to choose your font style, size & color.
"click" on the background again.

Begin typing your text: (You might have to highlight the first few words and then choose font style, size & color again to get it set).  The background will expand as you enter your text.

Highlighted text: Select font style, size & color and then click next to what you have highlighted and the text should change. If not, highlight again and repeat steps.

Let's add a picture to your blog. Click on the icon to add a picture, select the position and then drag it to where you want it placed at on your page.

In the next picture: I have positioned the image to the left with text on the right side of the picture.

Picture aligned to the right with text on the left.

Each picture that you add will position itself at the top of the page and you will need to drag the picture into the desired position within your blog.  The alignment will be based on what position that you chose.  (Align Left, Align Center, Align Right)

Here are some examples of a background image with a border.

I have given you examples on how to add a bordered background that expands with whatever text and pictures that you enter until you are finished composing your blog.  I have also shown you how to add pictures within your blog and how to position them within this tutorial.

I created this tutorial using the table code with a white background and black border. And this is....
